Abstract
With the emergence of high stake international comparative surveys and tests,
the scope and sequence of school mathematics in many countries become to be
oriented to high achievement of students. Therefore, mathematics education in
school become to be limited in its variety and richness. This situation can
be paraphrased ?Mathematics education become to be straight jacketed by the
demand of high achievement. On the other hand, mathematics education off school
looks very lean comparing with science education. Mathematics education off
school, for example, through Web, can be the power option to people who want
to learn better and rich mathematics in the near future. In order to resolve
above situation and to provide a wide variety of rich mathematics, Tokyo University
of Science (TUS) and Tokyo Metropolitan Television (MXTV) jointed and started
the Project TUS/MXTV Web Mathematics in 2003. This project is funded by Japan
Society of Promotion of Science. ?TUS/MXTV Web Mathematics will provide a wide
variety of mathematics content to mainly high school students off the schools.
In the web page, four digital videos that deal rich mathematics in unique manner
will be broadcasted through digital streaming technology, and contents related
to the videos will be included.
