Approach in Education: Mathematics for Preschool

Abstract
In the era of globalization, the use of multimedia technology seems
to be as a mechanism that is inseparable from human life. Therefore,
the use of multimedia approach must be enlarged in the education
field right from preschool age. Being aware of this, exposure to
multimedia from young age must be stressed to increase their interest
in this. In achieving this, preschool Mathematics courseware based
on movements of animations and pictures portrayed can be the main
attraction factor to children who are in the process of learning
preschool mathematics. The development of this courseware is done
partly as a catalyst to enhance the usage of multimedia in the early
stage of education. The courseware applies the cognitive approach
in its usage. This approach stressed on development of children's
mind towards digits and numbers. In this approach, children learn
through observing relationship between various elements in the environment
and past experience and also theories available at that moment.
The cognitive learning should have several regular steps to ensure
the goal that is introducing digits and numbers can be achieved.
The step starts by gathering of information from various modules
and then being remembered and memorized couple of times to enhance
competency of the specific knowledge and finally ending with the
strengthening activity in order to test the level of achievements.
Beside that, the approach of theme is also embedded in the development
of this courseware such as the plants and animals. It is combine
as part and parcel of the courseware component. It is displayed
through interesting approach to prevent boredom on mathematics that
deals with digits and numbers only.
