Teaching and Learning Senior Mathematics with a Graphics Calculator

Abstract
This is an introductory, "hands-on" workshop using the CASIO CFX-9850GB Plus Graphics Calculator. The workshop does not assume prior knowledge of the calculator or of other graphics calculators. The significance of such technologies will be briefly described, and participants will explore some examples of the ways in which the calculator can be used to improve learning, assist teaching and affect curriculum development. The focus will be upon the mathematics typical of the end of secondary school and the first undergraduate year, especially advanced algebra, pre-calculus, calculus and statistics, drawing in part on Australian experiences in these areas.
