Abstract
Shanghai is the most developed city and an opening frontier of China, and its school education system as well as conditions are of top level in China. Technologies are gradually popularized in Shanghai schools during recent years, which is an great step towards modernized future school education. Because of its natural close connection with technology (esp. computers and graphic calculators), mathematics has more requirements for application of technologies. However, several important issues still remain to be investigated.
Based on questionares and interviews, this paper obeserved the attitudes of Shanghai school headmasters/teachers/students/parents towards technology, illustrate the influence of technology upon the process of mathematics teaching and learning, and find some suitable topics and teaching methods for using techonology. These will help to improve students' understanding of mathematics knowledge, provide practical suggestions to local educational administratives for the creation of new version of Shanghai School Mathematics Textbook as well as school mathematics teacher training programm.
