Abstract

Authors began a pilot program of using MATHEMATICA in the classroom. One initiative was the creation of three-credit complex variables course for mathematics, applied mathematics and physics majors. This report is on the significant outcomes of that effort. Observations were made of MATHEMATICA's successes and failure in this course. In general MATHEMATICA was very effective in allowing efficient treatment of some challenging aspects of such course. However, some shortcomings of MATHEMATICA did surface. In this paper, we will look at successes, failure and applications.
