Abstract
In this hands-on workshop, participants will consider the place of a less sophisticated graphics calculator for learning secondary school mathematics. We will use a Casio fx-7400 graphics calculator to focus on the new opportunities for learning and teaching mathematics available to students and their teachers with reasonable access. The choice of this calculator constrains some of the mathematical activities available, but has clear advantages for situations with limited financial resources. The workshop will be concerned mostly with mathematics prior to calculus, including key ideas in algebra and statistics. No prior experience with this or other graphics calculators will be assumed.
