                    Abstract
Graphics calculators are mainly devices of use for student learning of mathematical concepts. This hands-on workshop will focus on the features of a modern graphics calculator that are potentially useful for students beginning to learn about the calculus. Fundamental ideas such as those of derivative, limit, continuity and integral will be considered, using the Casio cfx-9850GB PLUS calculator. Consideration will also be given to the numerical approximation of standard calculus questions, such as those concerned with curve sketching and optimisation, Both suitable classroom activities and directions for curriculum change will be discussed. No previous experience with this or other calculators will be assumed.
