Abstract
Title: Group Theory Through Symmetry: With the aid of Mathematica and Maple V In this paper, we illustrate how symmetry can be a useful tool in teaching Group Theory in a laboratory setting, particularly through the use of Computer Algebra Systems(CAS) such as Mathematica and Maple V. We focus on how these CAS can be used to explore and visualize groups and their important properties through rotational and reflection symmetry. To mention one particular situation, among others, we show the students' discovery of the rotational groups of the regular polyhedra.
