Abstract

The use of handheld computer algebra systems (CAS) in the end of secondary school examination systems is increasing worldwide. How have examination boards gone about implementing the use of CAS, how have they taken account of the testing of traditional skills within their examinations? This presentation will provide an overview of the way in which three examination boards, in Denmark, the USA and Australia have gone about introducing CAS into their examinations. Indications on the testing of skills within a CAS environment will be described and suggestions for other examination boards considering the introduction of CAS will also be given.
