Exploring animated functions with Excel

Abstract

This workshop explores the power of Microsoft Excel to create interactive animations for exploring functions in secondary and college level. Participants will learn how to use spinners and sliders to dynamically alter the characteristics of functions and instantly see the impact on the graphs. They will discover the opportunities this presents for student-centred learning in the classroom.

The contents include the following:

  • An introduction to spinners and slider
  • How to animate graphs
  • Developing an application for student-centred learning of the introduction to calculus
  • Some tips and tricks in setting up and using Excel

Participants are expected to have some basic knowledge of writing formulas in Excel.
