Abstract
In this paper we describe the use of the HP 48G graphics calculator as a teaching and learning aid in an intermediate linear algebra unit at the undergraduate level. We will use examples taken from the topic area of eigenvalues and eigenvectors to outline the approach we have taken in implementing the HP 48G and offer solutions to them. We discuss problems that arose in relation to the implementation. Finally we consider the potential uses for the calculator as a computational tool in a larger first year unit.
