The Second ATCM-China Announcement
Beijing, China during August 3-6, 2012

We are pleased to announce the second Asian Technology Conference in Mathematics (ATCM) China chapter metting to be held in Beijing, China during August 3-6, 2012. The second ATCM-China is jointly organized by ATCM and Chinese Association of Mathematics Education (中国数学教育研究会)

Purposes:
The ATCM local chapter is meant to promote the exchanges of students-centered projects where technological tools are being implemented creatively in solving real-life problems. Teachers and students will gain valuable knowledge in handling projects with up to date technological tools. It is common sense that mathematics learning outcomes cannot be and should not be measured only by testing or examination alone, this is where project based exploration could become life-long learning experiences.

Topics of Interests:
The conference will cover a broad range of topics on the application and use of technology in Mathematics research and teaching. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Exchange ideas of students-centered projects between Chinese and international scholars.
  • Exchange ideas of implementing technology in mathematics instructions and learning between Chinese and international scholars.
  • Exchange ideas of implementing technology in mathematics research between Chinese and international scholars.

  • (NEW) E-Math Contest for Secondary School Students: There will be teams from China and overseas to participate in this event. In short, there are two parts of the contest: Part one is a free choice of topic, which students should show how they integrate technological tools into solving real-life problems. Part two will be given at the conference to solve, and use of graphics calculators are allowed. Awards and prizes will be announced by the end of the conference. We divide the competitions into three categories: One for middle schools (ages 13-15), one for first year high school (ages 15-16) and one for second year in high school (ages 16-17).   • Format of the Conference:
    We will have plenary speeches, presentations, hands-on workshops and E-Math Contest for Secondary School Students.

    Call for Proposals:

  • Please submit your proposal online by using the online system at http://conferencereview.com and choose 2012 ATCM and the track of ATCM-China.
  • Submission Deadline: July 4, 2012. Notification Deadline: July 16, 2012.
  • Successful proposals will be invited for consideration of publication at the Electronic Journal of Mathematics and Technology  ejMT logo

  • Language: English or Chinese

    Conference Venue: Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China.

    Arrival and Departure Dates: Arrival: August 3, 2012; Departure: morning of August 7, 2012.

    Registration fee: 300USD before July 1 and 330USD after July 1.

  • Online registration of ATCM-China (is available here).
  • The fee includes lunches and dinners during the conference. It also includes a local tour, which will be announced later.
