Asian Technology Conference in Mathematics


The ATCM-Taiwan Announcement
Hsinchu , Taiwan during December 17-19, 2011 (NEW DATES)

We are pleased to launch the Asian Technology Conference in Mathematics (ATCM) Taiwan chapter and its first meeting will be held in Hsinchu, Taiwan during December 17-19, 2011 (NEW DATES). The ATCM-Taiwan is sponsored by the National Science Council (NSC) and hosted by the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU).

    Purposes:
    The ATCM local chapter is meant to promote the exchanges of students-centered projects where technological tools are being implemented creatively in solving real-life problems. Teachers and students will gain valuable knowledge in handling projects with up to date technological tools. It is common sense that mathematics learning outcomes cannot be and should not be measured only by testing or examination alone, this is where project-based exploration could become life-long learning experiences.

    Topics of Interests:
    The conference will cover a broad range of topics on the application and use of technology in Mathematics research and teaching. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Exchange ideas of students-centered projects between Chinese and international scholars.
  • Exchange ideas of implementing technology in mathematics instructions and learning between local and international scholars.
  • Exchange ideas of implementing technology in mathematics research between local and international scholars.

  • Format of the Conference:
    We will have plenary speeches, presentations and hands-on workshops.

    Call for Proposals:

  • (Updated on October 15, 2011) Please upload your submission online through Conference Review System by November 15 (Extended). It can be in of the following formats:(i) presnting talk with abstract only, (ii) full paper, or (iii) abstract for conducting workshop.
  • Submission Deadline: November 15 (extended), 2011. Notification Deadline: by November 20, 2011.
  • Successful proposals will be invited for consideration of publication at the Electronic Journal of Mathematics and Technology  ejMT logo

  • Language: English or Chinese

  • Arrival and Departure Dates: Arrival: December 17, 2011; Departure: Afternoon of December 19, 2011.

    Registration fee and Visa: 300USD before November 20 and 330USD after Novmember 20.

  • Official Hotel of ATCM-Taiwan: Berkeley Hotels Hsinchu Taiwan (Across the street from the campus; NT1800 (about USD64) per night for conference participants), which includes daily breakfast and taxes. We have limited number of rooms reserved for the participants, please send an e-mail by November 20 (extended) to 'mathandtech@gmail.com' and 'jcchuan@gmail.com' with the subject line of 'Room Reservation of ATCM-Taiwan' indicating you would like to stay in this hotel. The hotel is located at the free shuttle stop to/from the Hsinchu High Speed Rail Station. Once the train leaves Hsinchu, it takes 32 minutes to reach Taipei Main Station, 85 minutes to Tso-Ying
