Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the differences between female students and male students as studentsĄŻ attitude and understanding of mathematics using Tessellation. The following research questions were proposed for this study: (1) Differences in attitude, (2) Differences in mathematical understanding, and (3) Differences in creativity. Pre and post questionnaires and the achievement test for transformation on the Van Hiele levels were carried out to compare the differences of the 9th graders. Interviewing with students was also used during this study to get in-depth analysis of their attributes of mathematical learning. As 7th mathematics curriculum highlights the beauty of mathematics, we need to provide both genders of students with an opportunity to experience this feature of mathematics.
