Abstract

The eActivity developed by Casio, which is available in the handheld ClassPad 300, is a versatile electronic workplace where interactive electronic activities can be created linking various mathematical capabilities of the ClassPad 300. This paper categorizes eActivity as an instructional technology within mathematics education using the learning location model (LLM) and the mathematical expressivity model (MEM). Brief discussions on the two models are presented and examples of the electronic activities created using ClassPad 300 are used to describe the idea of eActivity. These two models are then used to compare eActivity to other more popular instructional technologies, and also to evaluate its reference to mathematics education.
