Abstract

Dynamic Geometry is a computer environment in which students can explore geometric relationships and make and test conjectures. In this talk we are to explore the many connections that Dynamic Geometry has made. 1) Conceptual Connections: a) Geometry: Geometric Construction, Linkage, Spherical Geometry, Solid Geometry b) Analysis: Calculus, Interpolation c) History of Mathematics d) Recreational Mathematics e) Arts and Design 2) Philosophical Connections a) Connectionism b) Constructivism c) Double Meanings d) Aesthetics 3) Educational Connections a) Science Fair b) Mathematics Competition c) Frosting Innovation d) Tools for the Physically Challenged e) Courses 4) Physical Connections a) Hyperlinks b) Java Applets 5) Connections with the Real World a) Publishing b) Technology c) Graphics Calculator d) Conference e) Propaganda f) Mathematical Show The html format of the presentation is located at: http://sylvester.math.nthu.edu.tw/d2/connections/
