Abstract

The new technology of graphing calculators has the potential to change the way certain topics in mathematics are taught. In this session I will be using the Hewlett-Packard HP38G to discuss ideas that I have used in my classroom to introduce and enhance the topic of trigonometric graphs. We will look at how the graphing calculator can be used to aid in the introduction of the concept, at extending the topic by examining transformations of graphs, and also at using a data logger to apply trigonometric graphs to real data and situations.

Intended Audience: Teachers of students in upper secondary mathematics.
